Attachment Style Assessment

Understanding How You Connect

This assessment looks at two patterns in close relationships: how often you tend to worry about connection, and how much you tend to seek distance. It is based on the Experiences in Close Relationships-Revised (ECR-R) scale, a widely used research measure of adult attachment.

Before you begin

  • Set aside about 8 to 10 minutes of uninterrupted time.
  • You will respond to 36 statements, one at a time, on a scale from 1 (strongly disagree) to 7 (strongly agree).
  • Answer for how you generally experience close relationships, not just what is happening in a current relationship.
  • Your responses stay on this device. Nothing is sent or saved to a server.
This is not a clinical diagnosis. The most useful part of these results happens in conversation with your therapist. What you are going through right now can shape how you answer, which is part of what makes that conversation valuable.
This only appears on your printed results, in case you want to share them with your therapist.
